Ms. Carrie K. Walker
Project Manager

As the Project Manager, Ms. Walker is responsible for the daily operation of the Project. This includes managing resources at all participating Centers, developing all Project documentation, and assisting the PI and Associate PIs with Project execution.

Ms. Walker has thirteen years of experience in management of NASA efforts. She has management experience at the Program/Project level, at the Center management level, and at NASA Headquarters. She has been involved in all stages of project management including formulation, advocacy, execution, and technology transfer.

Ms. Walker has been involved in the Aviation Safety Program since the beginning of Phase I in 1997. While on a detail to NASA Headquarters she was involved in the Program Formulation. Subsequent to that she became the Lead of two Safety Projects within the NASA Base R&T Program, the Error-Proof Flight Deck (EPFD) Project and the Total Aircraft Management Environment (TAME) Project. Ms. Walker also served as the Deputy Manager and then the Manager of the Single Aircraft Accident Prevention (SAAP) Project that developed technologies to enhance aircraft airworthiness and resiliency against loss-of-control in flight.

Ms. Walker's first position in management came in 1994 when she was selected as the Deputy Program Manager of NASA's General Aviation (GA) Program. The Program contributed important technologies to improve the operation and safety of GA aircraft and made significant contributions to revitalize the GA industry.

Ms. Walker began her NASA career in 1987 as a research scientist in the Systems Architecture Branch at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. She conducted research in computer-aided system design resulting in the integration of hardware and software design tools and in techniques for improving the speed and accuracy of automated code generation.

Ms. Walker holds a bachelor's degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Computer Science from Mississippi State University, a master of science in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. Ms. Walker also studied Space Business and Management under a NASA Fellowship at the International Space University at York University, Toronto, Canada.
