+ September 3, 2009: The Leading Edge: "ADS-B: A New Approach to Air Traffic"
Washington, DC
Increased air traffic requires a new system-wide technology that can support the volume of operations projected for the 21st century. This new satellite-based technology is "Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast," or ADS-B. Panelists from NASA, the FAA and UPS discuss tests of ADS-B, NASA's contribution to the implementation of ADS-B, the significant improvements it can make to air transportation safety and efficiency, and the challenges of phasing it into a complex system that never sleeps. Program airs live on NASA TV at 11 a.m. ET.
