+ American Chemical Society Salute to Excellence Award (Cleveland Section) (2003).
Awarded to Dr. Mary V. Zeller of NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) for numerous community outreach efforts to make science fun as well as educational. Zeller is chief scientist for GRC's Instrumentation and Controls Division.

+ American Helicopter Society (AHS) Awards.
  • AHS Fellow.
    William Bousman, U.S. Army, NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), who is a research scientist in rotorcraft dynamics and aerodynamics.
  • AHS Gruppo Agusta International Helicopter Fellowship Award.
    Awarded to the Black Hawk Individual Blade Control Team, including team member Tom Norman (LaRC) for significant contribution to international vertical flight cooperation by an individual or team.
  • AHS Harry T. Jensen Award.
    Awarded to the NRTC/RITA and ARL-VTD Team for "Multi-Terrain Impact Safety," including team member Dr. Karen H. Lyle (LaRC), for making an outstanding contribution to the improvement of helicopter reliability, maintainability or safety through improved design.
+ American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Awards.
  • AIAA Sustained Service Award.
    Awarded to Bobby Berrier (LaRC) for 36 years of sustained service to AIAA, including education, leadership, and enhanced recognition of AIAA worldwide.
  • AIAA Info Systems Award.
    Awarded to John Lytle (GRC) for outstanding leadership in the development of advanced software that dramatically improves engineering productivity in designing propulsion systems for military and civil applications.
  • AIAA Aeroacoustics Award.
    Awarded to Thomas Brooks (LaRC) for outstanding contributions to the understanding, prediction, and reduction of noise from rotors, airfoils, and other aerodynamics devices.
  • AIAA Fellows.
    John "Jack" Boyd (ARC), Ivatury Raju (LaRC), Peter Gnoffo (LaRC), M. Leroy Spearman (LaRC). For AIAA members who have made notable and valuable contributions to aeronautics.
+ American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Fluids Engineer Award.
Awarded to Marvin E. Goldstein (GRC) for his theoretical contributions to the field of aeroacoustics.

+ R&D 100 Award.
Awarded to NASA Glenn Research Center and the team behind the WSI InFlight System, a new pilot weather advisor tool that graphically displays both radar and airport condition data on portable or panel-mounted displays inside the cockpit. And a second award to the team behind the Hybrid Anti-Icing System, a new form of ice protection for aircraft that operates at 25 percent of the power of current systems while providing the same level of safety.
