NASA ANNOUNCES ILLINIOS AERONAUTICS RESEARCH AWARDS
WASHINGTON - NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, Aviation
Safety Program, has awarded approximately $500,000 to the University of
Illinois, Champaign, for its propsal, "Event Cube: An Organized Approach
for Mining and Understanding Anomalous Aviation Events."
The university also was awarded apprxoximately $500,000 for its
proposal, "An Integrated Tool-Supported Framework for Integrated Vehicle
Health Monitoring, Control and Verification" and approximately $151,000
for its proposal, "Modeling the Effects of Stimulus Characteristics,
Task Demands, and Individual Differences."
These awards will foster close collaboration with and facilitate the
exchange of ideas and information among researchers within NASA,
industry, academia and other government agencies to benefit the nation's
aeronautics community.
NASA conducts cutting-edge research to improve the safety of current and
future aircraft operating in the National Airspace System. The research
will focus on the way vehicles are designed, built, operated and
maintained. Scientists and engineers in this program develop principles,
concepts, tools, methods and technologies to address four areas:
aircraft aging and durability, integrated intelligent flight deck
technologies, integrated vehicle health management and integrated
resilient aircraft control.
