NASA ANNOUNCES MARYLAND AERONAUTICS RESEARCH AWARDS
WASHINGTON - NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, Aviation
Safety Program, has awarded approximately $130,000 to Intelligent
Automation Inc., Rockville, Md., for its proposal, "A Novel
Non-Intrusive Multi-Modal System for Real-Time Operator State
Assessment." The company also will receive approximately $150,000 for
its proposal, "Wireless Ultrasonic Transducer Network for Airframe
Structure Health Management."
The program also awarded approximately $98,000 to the University of
Maryland, College Park, for work described in its NASA research
announcement proposal entitled, "Reliable Diagnostics and Prognostics
for Critical Avionics Systems."
These awards will foster close collaboration with and facilitate the
exchange of ideas and information among researchers within NASA,
industry, academia and other government agencies to benefit the nation's
aeronautics community.
NASA conducts cutting-edge research to improve the safety of current and
future aircraft operating in the National Airspace System. The research
will focus on the way vehicles are designed, built, operated and
maintained. Scientists and engineers in this program develop principles,
concepts, tools, methods and technologies to address four areas:
aircraft aging and durability, integrated intelligent flight deck
technologies, integrated vehicle health management and integrated
resilient aircraft control.
