Dr. Ronald Noebe
The Challenges and Progress in Development of Shape Memory Alloys for Solid-State
Dr. Ronald Noebe is a materials research engineer in the Advanced
Metallics Branch at NASA's Glenn Research Center. He has more than 20
years experience in the design, development, modeling, processing,
characterization, and application of structural and advanced functional
alloys with particular experience in high-temperature ordered
intermetallics and shape memory alloys. He heads a team under the
Fundamental Aeronautics Program in NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission
Directorate to investigate, develop and characterize high-temperature
shape memory alloys and to accelerate their application in aerospace and
other industries. Dr. Noebe has coauthored more than 300 technical
publications, including numerous book chapters and more than 100 papers
in peer-reviewed journals. He holds five patents and is a Fellow of ASM.
